Tracking through the snow
on the way a deer appears
such a joyous sight
nature’s winter wonderland

Silver moonbeams fall
tea-rose skies creating a glow
reflecting wonders
golden yellow and bright red
putting on a winter show

Snowdrops are one of the earliest bloomers of the growing season. There are about 20 different species of snowdrops and they are all white. They sometimes emerge while the snow is still on the ground. Some snowdrop species are threatened in their wild habitats, and in most countries it is now illegal to collect bulbs from the wild. Watch out!!!The whole plant is poisonous but especially the bulbs.

When you look around, you see the snow gently falling from the sky. It covers the ground like a blanket. People in thick, heavy coats rushing downhill with the wind struggling to keep up. And, when it comes to snow, children can never get enough. You can hear them outside laughing and playing in the snow.

Tunnel of Lights

Illumination
One of the best light shows in all of Japan. It runs for 4 full months (from mid November – mid March). Among other things, there is a tunnel of light, a cloud of lights, one of the major flower display areas is turned into an “aurora”, the lake is lit up with lights, and more.

It is definitely worth seeing in your time in Mie and it is one of the most well-known tourist attractions in the area. As it is so popular, it is often fairly crowded on weekends so if you live close enough to make it up on a weekday instead that is recommended.
